He joined the Yankees in 1993 after a trade from the Cincinnati Reds and quickly became a leader on the field. Whether it was a clutch hit, a diving catch, or his intense focus during an at-bat, O’Neill gave everything he had every game.

O’Neill helped lead the Yankees to four World Series championships from 1996 to 2000. He was known for coming through in big moments, playing strong defence in right field, and always putting the team first.

Teammates respected O’Neill for his toughness and leadership. He set a great example with his work ethic and always did what it took to win.
