Clark Gillies was a tough and talented forward who played a big part in the New York Islanders' four Stanley Cup wins from 1980 to 1983. He was known for his strength, leadership, and ability to score goals when it mattered most.

Gillies played on the famous "Bossy-Trottier-Gillies" line, where he protected his teammates and helped them score. He wasn’t afraid to play physical, but he also had a soft touch around the net, making him a dangerous all-around player.

Off the ice, Gillies was a leader who earned the respect of teammates and fans. He played with heart and pride every night, and his presence helped the Islanders become one of the top teams in the NHL.

In 1996, the Islanders retired his number 9 jersey to honour all he did for the team. Clark Gillies will always be remembered as a key part of the Islanders’ championship years and a true legend of the game.
