NYK KNICKS #19 Willis Reed
Willis Reed was one of the most respected and inspiring players in New York Knicks history. He was known for his strength, leadership, and heart on the court, helping lead the team to greatness in the 1970s.
Reed joined the Knicks in 1964 and quickly became one of the top centers in the league. He was a strong scorer, a great rebounder, and a tough defender. His leadership helped guide the Knicks to multiple playoff runs and two NBA championships in 1970 and 1973.
His most famous moment came in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals. Even though he was badly injured, Reed walked onto the court and scored the first two baskets of the game. His courage inspired his teammates and the Knicks went on to win their first NBA title.
Off the court, Reed was known for being humble and kind. He gave back to the community and stayed involved in basketball for many years after retiring as a player.
The Knicks retired Reed’s number 19 jersey to honor all he gave to the team. He will always be remembered as a true Knicks legend and a symbol of strength and determination.
