Émile “Butch” Bouchard was one of the strongest and most respected players in Montreal Canadiens history. He played defence for the team in the 1940s and 1950s and helped the Canadiens win four Stanley Cup championships.
Bouchard was known for being tough, smart, and a great leader. He was the team’s captain for many years and helped younger players learn how to play the right way. Fans loved him for how hard he worked and how much he cared about the team.
Even after he stopped playing, people remembered him as someone who helped build the Canadiens into a winning team. In 2009, the Canadiens honoured him by retiring his number 3 jersey. Émile Bouchard will always be remembered as a true Canadiens legend.
