LAL LAKERS #44 Jerry West
Jerry West was one of the most important players in Los Angeles Lakers history. He was known for his strong scoring, smart plays, and ability to perform well in big moments. West helped make the Lakers one of the most famous teams in basketball.
He joined the team in 1960 after playing at West Virginia University. Right away, he became one of the top guards in the NBA. Even though the Lakers made it to the NBA Finals many times during the 1960s, they often came up just short. Still, West was a leader who never gave up.
A key moment in his career came during the 1971–72 season. West helped the Lakers win 33 games in a row—still an NBA record—and led them to a championship that year. His passion and leadership were a big reason for the team’s success.
