TEN TITANS #65 Elvin Bethea - SQ

Elvin Bethea was one of the best defensive players in Tennessee Titans/Houston Oilers history. He was strong, fast, and played with great effort. Bethea became a star on the defensive line and helped lead the team for many years.

He joined the Oilers in 1968 as a third-round draft pick. He quickly proved himself with his size, power, and athletic ability. Offensive linemen had a hard time blocking him, and he became one of the top pass rushers in the league.

Bethea wasn’t just great on the field—he was a leader in the locker room, too. He helped younger players, always worked hard, and set an example for how to act as a professional. Everyone respected him for his dedication and team-first attitude.

In 1975, he was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year. That award showed how great and consistent he was. His leadership helped the Oilers become a stronger team.

To honour his career, the Titans/Oilers retired his jersey number 65. Elvin Bethea will always be remembered as a true football legend and a hero to fans of the team.
