Scott Stevens was one of the toughest and most respected players in New Jersey Devils history. A powerful defenseman, he was known for his big hits, strong leadership, and ability to shut down the other team’s best players.
Stevens joined the Devils in 1991 and played 13 seasons with the team. As captain, he helped lead the Devils to three Stanley Cup championships in 1995, 2000, and 2003. His fierce style of play and smart positioning made him one of the most feared defenders in the NHL.
One of his most famous moments came in the 2000 playoffs, when he delivered a huge hit on Eric Lindros that became one of the most talked-about plays in Devils history.
In 2006, the Devils retired Stevens’ number 4 jersey to honour everything he meant to the team. Scott Stevens will always be remembered as a leader, a champion, and a true Devils legend.
