COL AVALANCHE #77 Ray Bourque
Ray Bourque was already a hockey legend when he joined the Colorado Avalanche late in his career. Born in Quebec, Canada, Bourque spent over 20 years chasing one goal — winning the Stanley Cup.
He came to Colorado in 2000, hoping to finally lift the Cup. In 2001, that dream came true. Bourque helped lead the Avalanche with his smart plays, strong defense, and calm leadership. When he raised the Stanley Cup, it became one of the most emotional moments in NHL history.
Even though he only played a short time in Colorado, Bourque made a huge impact. To honour his storybook ending, the Avalanche retired his number 77 the same year — a tribute to one of the game’s all-time greats.
