CLE GAURDIANS #5 Lou Boudreau - SQ
Lou Boudreau was one of the greatest shortstops and leaders in Cleveland Guardians (formerly Indians) history. Known for his smart play, strong defense, and leadership, Boudreau helped lead the team to some of its biggest moments.
He joined the Guardians in 1938 and quickly became a star. Boudreau was great with the glove, could hit in key moments, and had a deep understanding of the game. His teammates and fans respected him both on and off the field.
In 1948, Boudreau had an incredible year. He won the American League MVP and led the Guardians to their last World Series title—as both a player and manager at the same time. He was an eight-time All-Star and was added to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1970.
Off the field, Boudreau was known for being humble, honest, and kind. He gave back to the community and helped younger players learn the game. Lou Boudreau will always be remembered as a legend in Cleveland baseball.
