Larry Wilson was a great safety known for his strong defence and leadership on the field. He was famous for his quick instincts, tough tackles, and ability to lead his team.
Wilson was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1960 and quickly became a star. His hard-hitting style earned him the nickname "Wildcat." He changed the safety position with his new ways of playing, including the safety blitz.
Wilson earned many awards, including eight Pro Bowl selections and five First-Team All-Pro honours. In 1966, he had an amazing season, intercepting ten passes.
Off the field, Wilson was known for his humble and respectful attitude, inspiring many future athletes.
To honour his great career, the Arizona Cardinals retired his jersey number 8. Larry Wilson's dedication and skill will always be remembered.
