PHI FLYERS #4 Barry Ashbee
Barry Ashbee was a strong and brave defenseman who helped build the Philadelphia Flyers during their early years. He was known for playing tough, protecting his teammates, and never giving up.
Ashbee was a big part of the Flyers' success, especially during their first Stanley Cup win in 1974. Even after an injury ended his playing career, he stayed with the team as a coach to help from behind the bench.
Sadly, Ashbee passed away in 1977, but the Flyers honoured him by retiring his number 4 jersey. Today, he is remembered as a true leader and a symbol of Flyers hockey—strong, fearless, and full of heart.
