NYM METS #31 Mike Piazza - SQ

Mike Piazza, one of the best hitting catchers in baseball history, became a Mets legend during his time in New York. Known for his powerful bat and big home runs, he helped lead the team to success and earned the love of Mets fans.

Piazza joined the Mets in 1998 and quickly became one of the team’s top players. His strong hitting and ability to come through in big moments made him a fan favourite. He was chosen for several All-Star Games and won multiple Silver Slugger Awards while wearing a Mets uniform.

One of his most memorable moments came on September 21, 2001, when he hit a go-ahead home run in the first game played in New York after 9/11. That special moment helped lift the city and brought hope to fans during a very difficult time.

Off the field, Piazza was a leader and role model. He worked hard, treated people with respect, and supported his teammates. His dedication to the game and to the city made him a true Mets icon.

In 2016, Piazza was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The Mets retired his number 31 to honour all he did for the team. Mike Piazza will always be remembered as one of the greatest Mets and a hero to fans everywhere.
