Paul Coffey was one of the best offensive defensemen in NHL history and a key part of the Edmonton Oilers’ dynasty in the 1980s. He was known for his fast skating, strong passing, and ability to join the rush and help score goals.
Coffey helped the Oilers win three Stanley Cups and was a big part of the team’s high-scoring style. He played on the power play, made great passes, and scored many goals himself. He won the Norris Trophy three times as the NHL’s best defenseman.
He played alongside stars like Wayne Gretzky, and together they were part of the famous “Boys on the Bus” team that dominated the league.
In 2005, the Oilers retired his number 7 jersey to honour all he did for the team. Paul Coffey will always be remembered as one of the greatest defensemen in Oilers and NHL history.
