TEN TITANS #74 Bruce Matthews

Bruce Matthews was one of the best offensive linemen in NFL history. He played nearly 20 years for the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans, becoming a true legend known for his skill, toughness, and hard work.

Matthews was picked ninth overall in the 1983 NFL Draft. He quickly became a key part of the offensive line. He was smart, strong, and dependable, playing almost every position on the line during his long career.

He wasn’t just a great player—he was also a great leader. He helped younger players, worked hard every day, and always put the team first. Coaches, teammates, and fans respected him for his effort and professionalism.

In 1993, Matthews helped lead the Oilers to the playoffs. That season, he showed his versatility by playing different spots on the line, proving how valuable he was to the team.

To honour his incredible career, the Titans/Oilers retired his jersey number 74. Bruce Matthews will always be remembered as one of the greatest players in team history and a true legend of the game.
