Mike Munchak was one of the best offensive linemen in Tennessee Titans/Houston Oilers history. He was known for his strength, skill, and hard work. Munchak became one of the most respected players in the NFL and a fan favourite.
He joined the Oilers in 1982 as the eighth overall pick in the NFL Draft. Right away, he became a key part of the team’s offensive line. His power, smart play, and strong technique helped the team succeed for many years.
Munchak wasn’t just a great player—he was also a great leader. He helped younger teammates, worked hard every day, and earned respect from players, coaches, and fans.
In 1988, Munchak was named the NFL Offensive Lineman of the Year, showing just how great he was on the field. His steady play and leadership helped the Oilers become one of the league’s top teams.
To honour his amazing career, the Titans/Oilers retired his jersey number 63. Mike Munchak will always be remembered as a true legend who gave everything he had to the game and his team.
