Enos Slaughter was one of the most loved and respected players in St. Louis Cardinals history. He was known for his tough play, strong effort, and ability to get big hits when the team needed them most.
Slaughter started playing for the Cardinals in 1938 as a young outfielder. From the beginning, he showed great talent with his fast base running, strong defence, and clutch hitting.
One of the biggest moments of his career came in Game 7 of the 1946 World Series. Slaughter made a daring run from first base to home to score the winning run. This play became known as “The Mad Dash” and made him a Cardinals legend.
Off the field, Slaughter was known for being humble and kind. He gave back to his community and set a good example for young fans and future players. His love for the game and for helping others made him a true fan favourite.
