NYJ JETS #12 Joe Namath

Joe Namath, known as "Broadway Joe," was one of the most famous and important players in New York Jets history. With his strong arm, bold personality, and fearless attitude, he became a star both on and off the football field.

Namath joined the Jets in 1965 and quickly became the face of the team. He was confident, exciting to watch, and never backed down from a challenge. In 1969, he made history by boldly guaranteeing a win in Super Bowl III—and then leading the Jets to a stunning upset over the Baltimore Colts. That win helped bring respect to the AFL and changed pro football forever.

Namath wasn’t just known for football. Off the field, he became a celebrity. He was in commercials, on TV shows, and in movies, helping make the NFL more popular than ever. He showed that athletes could be stars outside of sports, too.

The Jets retired his number 12 jersey to honour everything he did for the team and the game. Joe Namath will always be remembered as a football legend and a symbol of confidence, leadership, and New York Jets pride.
