KC CHIEFS #63 Willie Lanier - SQ
Willie Lanier was one of the greatest linebackers in Kansas City Chiefs history. He wore number 63 and was known for his toughness, smart play, and strong leadership. Lanier helped lead the Chiefs’ defence during the 1960s and 1970s.
Lanier could read plays, break through blocks, and make hard tackles that stopped offences in their tracks. He was chosen for eight Pro Bowls and was added to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1986.
His biggest moment came in Super Bowl IV, when he helped the Chiefs beat the Minnesota Vikings. His leadership and strong play were a big part of that victory.
Off the field, Lanier was known for being humble, professional, and giving back to the community. He supported charities and worked to help others throughout his career.
The Chiefs retired his number 63 jersey to honour everything he did for the team. Willie Lanier will always be remembered as a Chiefs legend and one of the best linebackers to ever play the game.
