Calvin Murphy was a fast and talented point guard who played his entire NBA career with the Houston Rockets. Even though he was only 5 feet 9 inches tall, he played like a giant, becoming one of the most loved players in team history.
Murphy joined the Rockets in 1970 and played for 13 seasons. He was known for his quick speed, strong ball-handling, and amazing scoring ability. He could score against much taller players and never backed down from a challenge.
In the 1976–1977 season, Murphy helped lead the Rockets to the Eastern Conference Finals. He earned All-Star honours and became the team’s all-time leading scorer when he retired.
Off the court, Murphy was known for his big personality and kind heart. He stayed active in the Houston community, supporting charities and helping others through his work.
Calvin Murphy will always be remembered as a Rockets legend and a great example of hard work, skill, and determination.
