Dutch Clark, also known as "Durdy", wore number 7 and was one of the first stars of the Detroit Lions during the 1930s. He played quarterback, running back, and defensive back, making him one of the most versatile players of his time.
On offence, Clark was fast, smart, and hard to stop. He could run, pass, and score from anywhere on the field. His quick moves and speed made him a big problem for defences and a favourite with fans.
Clark also made a big impact on defence. He was great at reading plays and stopping passes. His ability to play many positions made him one of the most valuable players on the team.
He helped lead the Lions to NFL championships in 1935 and 1952 and was named First-Team All-Pro four times. In 1963, he was added to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, showing how important he was to the game.
Off the field, Clark was known for being humble and caring. He supported his community and helped inspire future players. Dutch Clark will always be remembered as a true Lions legend and one of the best players from the early days of the NFL.
