Lafayette “Fat” Lever was a talented and all-around guard who made a big impact on the Denver Nuggets. Known for doing everything on the court—scoring, passing, rebounding, and playing strong defence—Lever became one of the most loved players in Nuggets history.
He joined the Nuggets in 1984 and quickly became one of the best guards in the NBA. His smart plays and strong work ethic helped lead the team to the playoffs many times. Lever was the heart of the Nuggets’ fast-paced offence.
One of his best seasons came in 1988-1989, when he was chosen as an NBA All-Star and led the league in triple-doubles. Fans loved how hard he played and how much he cared about the team.
Off the court, Lever was known for being kind and honest. He gave back to the community and worked with charities to help people in Denver and beyond. His time with the Nuggets will always be remembered.
