CHI BEARS #61 Bill George - SQ

Bill George, who wore the number 61 jersey, was a key player for the Chicago Bears during the 1950s and 1960s. Known for his smarts, strength, and hard hits, George helped change the way the linebacker position is played.

He made a huge impact on the Bears’ defence. Bill was the first to play what we now call the middle linebacker position. He was great at reading plays and stopping the offence before it could gain yards. His tough tackling and leadership made him the heart of the Bears' defence.

During his career, George was chosen for eight Pro Bowls and made the All-Pro team five times. He set a strong example for his teammates and always gave his best on the field.

Off the field, George was known for being kind, humble, and caring about his community. In 1974, he was honoured by being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
